That is too funny, I got side tracked with a boat too, just got an 86 Sea Ray Seville. Had to put a new floor in it and lots of odds and ends, but been using it a lot lately and it was well worth the $500 I gave for it and the trailer. |

Couple pics of the car as it has been for a while now:
Pulled the body off the pan and welded up a ton of random screw holes and the body trim holes. Keeping with the body work theme, I knocked the welds down and that's it haha - the body is a lumpy mess anyways!
Also did several oshpo/pressurewash treatments with some wire brushing to convert the rust on the pan. A slow process but it's working well:
Sitting overnight with more ospho rust treatment on it

Tonight I wire brushed and scraped the pan after letting the ospho treatment sit for a couple days. Turns out this pan has been painted a couple times and had some carpet glued down so I'm slowing getting through layers of paint and glue, as well as rust. More holes are popping up as I go haha!
I am finally getting to shiny metal and thin enough rust to actually convert it with the ospho. I'm also getting to the point that the brake lines and pedals need to come out so I can get into the areas under them. The ospho acid is helping remove the glue/paint as well as convert the rust as I go.
The pictures are a bit boring and repetitive but if you look close you can see progress!

Yeah it's finally starting to look good, I'm excited to get paint on it!
Before and after Another round or wire brushing and ospho. Also removed the brakes and pedal assembly to get the remaining areas. Glad I did because the brake lines were very brittle and snapped like twigs!

So I'm in and out of town working but every time I get a day at home I am doing something on the Baja.
I wire brushed the top of the pan one last time, and I think it's done being "rust converted" at this point. I am going to start pulling g the rest of the parts off (beam, transaxle, rear suspension, etc And keep going with prep/repair for paint.
Pics!
