Have searched but can't seem to find the location dimensions of the VW script for my rear hatch. Unfortunately it had to be replaced due to rust, the replacement had only holes but in an arc that didn't match the original script.
Does anyone have the actual dimensions from the side and bottom of the hatch? If not can someone measure for me when they get a chance. My intentions were to estimate based on pictures in the gallery but thought it would be more accurate if someone could provide actual dimensions.
Thanks in advance. _________________ 1966 Beetle, Sunroof, Sea Sand

3 1/8" from the left edge and 3 3/4" from the bottom. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

The replacement you got may not be for a bus...
Don't go drilling holes. Check the script and make sure it isn't actually for a beetle or another model. _________________ Mike

As it happens, I have a 1972 bus outside. Here are photos:

8.0 cm from the left edge of the hatch:
9.6 cm from the bottom of the hatch:

Thanks all, a little discrepancy between numbers but I will go with the ruler dimensions. Also the script I have is what came with the bus, appears to be original. I removed from the old rusted out hatch to this "newer to me" hatch.
Again, thanks for the quick replies. _________________ 1966 Beetle, Sunroof, Sea Sand

An add on question if I might?
My old hatch had two brackets on each side which I believe were to ensure the positioning side to side. It appears that the bolt locations were countersunk? My new to me hatch doesn't have the holes so obviously no countersunk area. Is there a way to fit these brackets on the replacement hatch? Is there such a thing as countersink tool?
I'm at work presently so no pictures.
Thanks. _________________ 1966 Beetle, Sunroof, Sea Sand
