I though you guys might like this. I am about to register my classic plates on my ghia. The 1971 Oklahoma plates are fine but they look kind of similar to the normal 2016 OK plates, but the black just fits color of the car and looked good. It looked funny with the "54" on it so I made one of those tabs that go over the existing number. Technically, in Oklahoma, this is not a license plate, it is a decal... the only requirement is that it is a plate that it is an officially issued plate... I am going to (maybe) sneak on the "71" tab because it is just a "decal" .
What do you all think? Roll the 71 plate or the modded 54 black plate? I am just super indecisive on these things . The black plate was my Grandfather's car's plate in 54 so it is a bit of a memento to me

Is it legal to alter a tag?
I do like the 71 mod you did. _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |

X2. If your state DMV is cool with it I'd roll with it. I have YOM plates to...they're a nice touch to a classic car. |

c21darrel, I hate when I see stuff like that but I guess that is just how it is these days. Just trying to make a quick few bucks. How can that dude buy up so many plates!?
All you other people have gotten pretty lucky with you plates. Very nice! I am going to have to register the plates as 54 but I will make the tab where it swings on and off by hand. Wish me luck with the cranky DMV peeps _________________ 1971 Karmann Ghia

yeah the 'Oklahoma is OK' (apart from those tornado's I was once stuck in an AmTrack train in the middle of nowhere for over 12 hours due to tornado's) plate is far out!

What tornadoes were you "dodging" in that train!? Sounds pretty worrying... glad your OK (no pun intended, lol)
I would say that I am sort of proud of Oklahoma. It has some crazy weather here... The record high and low for the tulsa area are 115*F (46*C) and -20*F (-29*C). That is about a 135* difference . IMHO I would also say that tornadoes are the most terrifying of the natural phenomenons. The appear out of nowhere and destroy pretty much everything. Out of the 15 recorded EF-5 tornadoes in the whole world from 2000-2016 oklahoma has taken 5 of those . Im starting to sketch my self out...
Other than that, we threw all the native americans here, took their land in the land runs, and had the worst race riot in US history right here in tulsa...
Both pics are of the El Reno Tornado (2.6 miles wide)

We've gone through Oklahoma many times on road trips to Route 66, Flagstaff AZ and California. Beautiful place. Stay safe out there! _________________ Jesse
