not as far as the Detroit-Houston tour that kicked off the sabbatical. should be a much prettier ride though.
got a bit more done on the dash today. so many curvy little pieces; it takes forever.
started by filling the gap between the face and hood of the speedo pod.
then cut off the steering column bracket and rounded out the lower edge the same way just leaving a slight half moon cutout for the column. no pics of this yet, not sure exactly how its going to be finished.
formed top side of the wings that blend speedo pod into eyebrow ridge as well.

What you are doing with metal I would have to work twice as hard at and three times as long to do in fiberglass, and I would still not get your results. The fact that it is metal and being crafted by one guy banging away at it in a home shop getting these results is inspiring to me, makes me want to up my game.
I almost hate to see you off on an awesome bike trek, I won't be getting my bubble top fixes for a while.....
Have a safe trip and thanks for posting your build. _________________ Gary

Thanks, always enjoy inspiring people. Glad everyone is enjoying the build. Made it to DC yesterday. Train back leaves this afternoon. Only have to ride from Toledo back to Detroit Sunday so should be able to get back in the garage in a couple days here. Very much ready for it as nice as the bike adventure was. |

Returned from bike trip to find second floor bathroom leaking into first because of an improperly done tub installation done before I bought the house. Fixing that takes priority over car but it's a huge job. Totally gutted bathroom and found some floor joists unsupported under 8 layers of rotten floor.
But, I did get this back
Here's the car with top

I see magazine potential in the future..
Could be in many... it crosses multiple interest..
I'd bet 100:1 ... Ed Roth, Sam and George Barris are kicked back with a coupe of cool ones.. calling up Von Dutch (Kenny Howard) today to come over to start watching this build ...... where ever they are..
Pretty Damn Stellar....
Just remember.. Kustom is always spelled with a "K"....

Had bubble done at a local plastics shop here in Detroit. Stellar plastics. 750$. Not a bad deal but they are slammed and it's pretty much a 2 man show so turn around time was pretty long. Very happy with it though. Couple small imperfections and not exactly symmetrical, but it fits and will work and looks rad.
Pretty much guessed my reaction 100%. Was surprised and pleased that it fit and looks so fucking cool.
And yea bathroom remodels...all I can say is many corners were crossed when this place was built and even more over the next 90 yrs of service. Hopefully this repair will add some integrity back into the building and last better than what was there before.
And I'm building it to drive it, magazines or not. |

Still working on bathroom remodel and some random other kitchen hustles to pay off summer taxes. Bathroom drywall finished up yesterday. Gotta paint and waterproof and then tile next week probably. Will be a while before I get back to car. |
