Since you have been soaking it for so long you could try rotating the distributor with a strap wrench. Try one direction and then the other. If it moves better to shift it back and forth while adding some more penetrating oil.
Would need to remove the vacuum advance to keep from crushing it. |
Yes, we have already tried this......guess I'll just have to put a cut up soda bottle taped to the distributor head and flush it full with PB Blaster and let it sit for about a week?
|
Just an FYI, PB Blaster is not the best solution for freeing frozen items, there was a test someone here reported on a while ago, Liquid Wrench was much better, and the best of all was a acetone/ATF home brew.
|
Ahhh I see, well I'll go with some Liquid Wrench around the base, hopefully that will do the trick?
The pulley tune-gap with the points has gone fine, the car ran extremely well all weekend.
I think the major problem I had before was with bad fuel, while as soon as I put that can of Seafoam and a fresh tank of non-ethanol gas on top of that, the car ran like a Swiss Watch. ~ Even before the new points!

Finally made 31,000 original miles yesterday afternoon.....
Had a relaxing Sunday drive with Blauchen around the lake and out for some Ice Cream at ANDI's.
Cars running fine, next plan is to rebuild the fuel pump and fix the horn and turn signals.
Turned over 31,000 original miles in this beautiful driving weather and I already can't wait till next weekend.

Well G&T,
That set up is NOT working correctly, while as it is now, one cancels out the other, I am running only Blinkers now, the Semaphores are rebuilt, but I haven't been able to find a local mechanic with electrical know-how to tackle this issue yet, also haven't been able to get a European Semaphore Switch (complete) some parts are still missing......

I've been driving Blauchen quite alot this year, even back on the Interstate, running 70/75+mph with the 100% stock motor.
Recently reached 32,250 Original Miles with Blauchen, still running like a Swiss Watch.
Getting ready for Bug Jam here in Florida on Sunday.......see everyone there, come by and have a look at Blauchen and say hello!

My CIA "spy tourist" interior display at the Bug Jam, with a real 1958 Minox B spy camera, original manual, my reading glasses all resting on an original late 1950's US Forces road map of Southern Germany (Bavaria).
A word of thanks to everyone who stopped by to see Blauchen with the V.I.P. Calendar cars during the 2015 Bug Jam.

Not yet, hopefully will be able to attend to that sometime in April or May?
That's needed as well as an oil change/fuel pump rebuild/engine pull to swap out the end seal & throw-out bearing/ check clutch, replace if necessary/ machine the flywheel/ adjust the valves, set timing, that's what my mechanic has in mind for next time.........
Blauchen reached 32,800 original miles this past weekend while driving to Lakeland.......
And he's still running like a Swiss watch we drove to the Lakeland Show without issues.

Latest news......New Garage for Blauchen
Blauchen had to move, so we are in a storage unit now, dry and clean and I have added Moth Balls and Cedar Rings to try to keep the bad critters away.
@ 32,897 original miles
He looks more happy since we left that old garage, we're getting ready for summer!

Hello Chicken Soup!
I shot most of those photos with my old Leica M8 digital with `1950's Nikkor or Leica lenses. Yes, "Blauchen" was often my PInUp when I wasn't shooting the gals for my old business. - Thanks for the compliment.

Hi Tom,
I have a 57 oval, horizon blue at one time, factory sunroof and it's been parked for years, most of the parts were missing. I decided to see what I can do, first we start with getting the title in my name, and looking to Everitte and the Samba to find inspiration. I found your original bug posts for that. Thank you!
