what is the difference between a original and a reproduction round hazet tool case that fits in your spare tire, under your hood?

Besides about a thousand dollars.... Most of the reproduction tool kits are for display only. If you actually tried to use them, the tools would most likely break. Most of them that I've seen say something like "display only" on the box they come in.

The repro kits made by Roundbox back in '98 were of the 1961-64 style. For a quick id, it has 4 wrenches and no T-handle fuel pump wrench. They can still be found on eBay for under $90
The tools are also very crude, but what do you expect from a Taiwan-made product. It was a great idea for VW enthusiasts that don't want to step up & purchase the read deal. I've restored quite a few Hazet kits in my time, and I've even had a few repro owners send me their kits to repaint in the original Blue/Grey hue as well as reflock the interior to the correct Med Blue shade. Some owners (repro) go as far as even start placing individual authentic Hazet pieces in their kits as time & money allow.
