Looking for the whereabouts of a car I had in the early 80’s. It is a 1961 convertible – all original, it was red with a black top, white interior. It had the original stale air 40 HP motor and after market oil filter. I had restored it so was in excellent condition and rust free. One unique feature was blue dots installed in the original glass tail lights (not shown in photos). It also had a metal dealer badge on the deck lid from Superior Motors Nashville Tn. I last saw it in Houston Texas in 1981. I would like to source the location of the car – maybe even try to acquire it. Any info would be helpful. VIN 3555205. Thanks.

I bought a '63 this week but the pan and body tag were long gone. The guy I bought it from said they used the pan/body tag to build a trike...

All the sheetmetal, top frame, rear view mirror/sun visors, original running boards, all glass, wiring harness, dash is complete and uncut, never wrecked. Everything except the pan, steering column/wheel, and gas tank. I did get the beam, I guess you don't need that when building a trike. _________________ Strive for perfection in everything. Picked up this '63 'vert a couple days ago. Pretty dry and really straight just missing some stuff. I will definitely be asking alot of questions in the future as this is my first convertible.
Here it is on the way home!
Some of the stuff that was in it, I didn't know you could fit so much in a bug.
Still pretty full of crap.
I got it a bit more put together today.
i'm hoping to get it running pretty soon, (PO claimed it ran before they "started restoration"). _________________ "Dammit, every time we have a sweet idea the government has to come and screw it up"-Kyle Broflowski

Vin #5511481, engine #8238500 and #6200 stamped next to jack holder. Anybody tell me what's what #'s wise? Had one repaint some time ago, stock color, new top, some pieces done incorrectly or missing, but otherwise stock everything else. Been sitting in a garage since 95, last registered owner in 1990. Saphire I radio, 010 dist, 40horse said to original, no damage to either front or back except for a little ding here and there.
Needs pans and som small support rail work on the drivers side, front wood bow is shot, paint is oxidized badly, brakes need to be gone through too but other than that still 6v too. Working on getting fuel system flushed right now, then drain motor, it turns freely also, re-build carb, new battery and see if she fires up.

I own this car now. Radio was replaced with a filler plate before I got it . I wondered what the holes in the glove box were for. Converted to 12v too. We bought it from a guy in california, it is in idaho now |

What the car looks like as of today. Have a few minor plans for it still including a new top. I just scored a dome light for it this weekend at the sacramento Bug O Rama.

What kind of moron would gut a car like this to build a bloody trike? Even 30 years ago, a rust free low window vert was rare and desirable. I have never seen such clean inner fenders, especially on a vert. The stupidity never ceases to amaze me. Good luck with your rebuild. _________________ 1973 1303S w sunroof Click to view image

Update on my '63. I had scrounged up a '65 sedan frame and stole the transaxle from my '66 to get it rolling and into dry storage. I had been in contact with Modifier who also had a '63 Vert and had expressed interest in buying his car to have enough to make one good car. Was able to buy it Saturday so I now have a matching numbers, but rusty '63, and a solid '63 body to work with. Still need rear seat frames, I can probably fix the bottom frame but the backrest is toast.
The red '63 body as found. Body number is 1964.
After sticking it together and getting it on a rolling frame.
The other '63. I will have to check again to see what the body number is. I have the original 40 horse that doesn't appear to have been apart before. Last owner said he had it running but it was knocking. Trans worked and didn't pop out of any gears. It was originally painted L1018 Brunswick Blue. I'm planning on using this frame with the red body to make a solid and complete car.

What was the vin/date the rear window changed? I've seen conflicting info. Not sure what seal/aluminum trim size to get. Car was built Dec. '62.
Also, are there any pictures of Brunswick Blue verts out there? I've searched and only found paint chips, and they all look a little different. _________________ Strive for perfection in everything. Dec 62 (1963 model year) should have the 63-74 window.
