Can someone add the photo from classifieds of the 61 roadster bug, im not able. This bug won 3rd place full custom at small car specialties show in 1988. It was driven to Pamona the night before from visalia and just wiped down. Good times! The paint looks like the paint job I put on it in 1987. Porsche raspberry. It also won 1st in daily driver at famosa that year with picture in hot vw . Owner was Mike Saldana |

Wow I don't know why I never looked at this thread brought back a lot of memories. I remember cruising magnolia in Riverside and hanging out with the club Whiplash and the Pink Whip, Wienerschnitzel was the spot. You would see banana split " if it ain't split it ain't shit" I believe was on his plate frame, sounds of speedy and so on. |
yep magnolia then down to mission club metro ! good time man |
I came *this* close to owning Sound of Speedy. I almost traded Lil J my primered 67 vert for it at Pomona swap meet back in 1991 _________________ GFK

I really want to do my '69 up to look like a Cal Look bug from the 80s... I was in love with that look when I was 5, and 25 years later I still feel the same way. These photos aren't helping AT ALL.
Nothing would be permanent, just a nice rake, T bars instead of bumpers, polished Rivieras, header/extractor exhaust, an Alpine 7163 tape deck and some mild graphics. |
I agree. You and I are about the same age. I was born and raised I'm So Cal. I'm actually building an 80s look 71 Super just because its the look I grew up liking. |
I remember Skim and I pulling the fenders off my first 55, and him talking me out of not one piecing the front widows, on the 54 doors he had traded me. I grew up in that generation too. I admit I find myself daydreaming of shaving at least the hood trim. I do think of finding a 57 that was hacked as a driver just so I could build it guilt free. Bullet car on stock wheels but with trim rings and Porsche nipples. Painted a pastel color, one piece widows, shaved trim, and recaro's.... _________________ ITMC-El Presidente

The 74 I built in the mid-90s had a Britax sunroof, tweed seats and lots of billet aluminum.

There`s more to the story then the picture shows. This photo was taken at one of the Coors Volkswagen Jamboree` in orange county. The place was set next to a very busy street and while the shows would go on there were the occasional hot rod racer trying to show off until one day when this fool takes his yellow oval and does a burn out going around a corner and hits the car in front of him. Completely destroyed the car while the show was going on. Ever since then they put plastic tarps on the fences all around the show. _________________ CRG

Scottys car was bad ass. I used to live in rancho/alta loma and stop by his place from time to time. The five spokes with the big knocks offs were sick too. |
