Black and red of some sort to match my seats.
trying to determine seat height now, prolly gonna sit about an inch lower than it is now in the front and an inch a half lower in the back. Not sure yet, it's a lot harder to do this by myself than I tho I ghat it would be. I am 6'4" so gonna mount it as far back as possible withthe tracks slid all the way back so if my 5'2" wife ddrive it all I got to do is slide it back till it stops and it's adjusted for me.
starting to hit the tricky stuff now and most of the heavy fabrication is done. But seems like it is gonna go slower rather than faster at this point. |

Instead of the dzus fasteners you could try some camloc fasteners, they may have a longer reach _________________ it's more fun loud and dirty |

Starting the bottom support for the fuel cell. And can see the new support bar for the shoulder harness up high like it should be.

Fuel cell frame is mostly done, just need to pick up some all thread and weld some tabs on the top frame so I can bolt it in place. Not the exact plan I had in mind when I started but think it is gonna work perfect and better than planned.

Well after much debate I decided to order some Mark V fiberglass fenders in the wide eye style. I got the 3/4 thicker ones so I can mount the tail light on them like a stock Bug, I just like that look better than putting them on the rear bumper.
I also did it because the higher racing fenders I have just dont line up and match the rear air deflector scoop thing, and I dont like having it with out the scoop. I am still not sure why shipping was $133.00 but was only 39 dollars more total than getting fenders from Chirco who only had $75 shipping and not sure which fenders they had but know Mark V has the best and strongest I believe.
Also have the speedo sending unit on the way and the hose and fittings to start plumbing the fuel system now that I could mesure it all, and since the framing for the seats is done I can start sealing and coating the inside then run brake lines. Still feels like I am barely started on this project but I guess it is close to final assembly. |

Sweet just got notification of a 40 dollar refund on the fenders, so shipping was dropped to 93 bucks. |

This is coming along real nice. Where'd you order your ball joints from? |
got them from chirco, they had to order them special.
I got doors with rebuilt hinges! !
they were not easy to do and glad I have my 20 ton press. Drilled out the hinges and took them off to do the pins, then reassembled with stainless steel hardware and nylon nuts in place of the rivets. |

Starting some bodywork and mounting up fenders. Think I am gonna lay some glass mat and resin then fiber bond the fenders in place after I bolt them in place, never have liked the seam that is there.

Welded studs in place to hold the fenders on and drilled holes and welded nuts in place for bolting the engine cover on. Now working on a filler plate to close the gap between the two and also to bolt the end of the fender in place so it won't be floppy.
think it will wind up purdy solid which is good when I mount the tail lights up. |

Got some stuff done this weekend, master cylinder and brake lines all the way to the drums, tie rod ends, fenders permanently in place, and steering column bolted in and connected. Now got a lot of sanding to do while I wait for the stainless steel front lines to come in. Might even get the fuel line started.
front suspension and stuff.
Barely any clerance at full drop, just enough to slide a tape measure under the tie rod.
