I have taken off something like 1/2" off the bottom of my spring plates. It gave me like 2" more ground clearance in the rear. The main thing you have to worry about is you axle angles!! You can't raise it too high withought putting your cvs in a bind. I think you can put a bus cv somewhere in the 30-32 degree range, and a car allot less than that. But Porsche 930's can go real high!!! Danny

I have a 70 baja that someone has notched about a 1/2 inch or so also. The car sits pretty high, I dont have an exact angle of the cv's but I have put 10k miles on them since I have owned the car and no failures. They were notched by someone else but I changed the bushings that were shot and installed urethane ones and then found the notched plates. I do remember about a 1/2 inch, That is a pretty long radius so dont go hog wild on them. C ya Jason

Was the spring plate notched just where the stop seems to have a 1" or so higher area. or the whole lenght of the spring plate.

Yea, I notched mine right where the raised area is.Make yourself a cardboard template, so you can make both sides the same. I have been running mine, in the woods for 5 or 6 years now with no problems.

Thanks Danny I have never knotched them before. So I am asking questions before I make a little job a big mess. M baja is pretty tall but the rear needs to be nothed to keep from smacking the stops.

Baja bugs and buggies by Jeff Hibberd covers this. Check amazon.com or find it in Hot vw's. Also E bay has them from time to time Jason
