Got a problem though - i've killed the temperature gauge and can't find one over here in the UK. Any of you guys know where there's one for a 69? (white needle model from a 5 dial car) Or even better - can you ship one over to me?

Thanks
Chris

What style of motors are they? I know they're 4 cyl boxers, but I wondered if they're a vw crossover? I always heard people say they're 911's with Beetle motors, but found a relative with one and might be able to trade.

Only the 912E (1976) had the VW Type 4 2.0 motor. The earlier 912s had the Porsche 356 motor.

From Wikipedia.com:

"After a six year absence, the model was re-introduced to North America in 1976 as the 912E to occupy the entry-level position left vacant by the discontinuation of the 914, while the new 924 – the 914's official replacement – was being finalized and put into production. The new 912 featured the "G-Series" 911 bodywork and was powered by a 2.0 L version of the Volkswagen air cooled engine, previously used in late-model versions of the 914/4. 2,099 were manufactured in total, and were not officially sold outside the United States."

It's a very similar layout to a VW motor - flat 4, upright fan shroud etc

close but not quite the 912 is sometimes called a 356D as it was a hybrid of sorts for Porsche and a response to customers clamouring for an affordable 911 and stricken as the beloved 356 was no more. The motor is very like the 356C,Sc but there are subtle differences. still Air cooled definitely porsche. Nothing wrong with the 914 type 4 Motors. 2.7 litres and over 200BHP!!
