I have a stock 65 bug and would like to lower the front 2.5". I am reading a lot of info on this topic and do not want to go wrong due to a low budget. I would like to know what size tire ,on stock smoothies, I can put on the front after lowering without rubbing. Hope this is the way to post a topic, I am new to Samba.

There are quite a few options depending on what you are looking for. These are the most typically used tires on lowered bugs.

135R15
145R15

Since you are only going 2 1/2 down, I'd say go for the 145R15....provided you aren't planning on alot of 'spirited' driving. If you are planning on driving fast and stopping fast, you might want a wider contact patch.

What size tire would give me a wider patch without rubbing? I was under the imprestion that the 135's, 145's wouldn't rub because of them being narrow. Am I totally wrong or am I in the right ballpark Confused When you say 145/15, would that mean 145/65/R15, or 145/80/R15?

If there's no profile marked they're 80.

I had 155/15 on 5.5 steelies, didn't work, 155/15 on 4.5 steelies, much better - but 135/15 were perfect.

If we're splitting hairs - 80 is assumed but it varies by manufacturer. Wink
