|
|
I am in the process of restoring an original Manx, and have the chance to get a ManxII with ID. My question is which is worth more? My original Manx has front and rear emblems and ID tag. The ManxII has ID tag only. I know that they made around 5300 Manxs and less than 300 ManxIIs. I will most likely get the ManxII and wanted to know which I should keep for myself when I complete them. Looking for any input. Thanks in advance!! |

what ya been smokin Mike? I want some of that stuff.
I would think the Manx 1 is worth more then the Manx II's, the II's were built cheaper and thinner to compete with all the knock off's |

I bought a Berrien for my brother this year. I wouldn't recomend one to anyone.
The gelcoat is splotchy and it's half the tickness of my Manx.
No thanks....... |

Not all of us do.
Surfnc - I'd say keep whichever one you really like....or try to keep both if at all possible. I've had 2 clones and I've got a Manx 1 now, but I wish I had the space and $ to have them all. _________________ Organized people are just too lazy to look for stuff

collectable? then you'd want a signature manx wouldn't you? only 100 made.
if you're building it to sell, you better be able to build it real cheap, none are going for all that much cash. the way it seems, most are sold at a loss. |

Must be the Duragloss because my brothers is a mess.
Perhaps I am being a bit harsh as it is one of the only options for a new buggy body?
It is definately thinner than my played out Manx.
That...... and it is just another clone. |

All the Berrien body's Ive seen have had a very nice finnish. They are just really thin body's, my Texasbuggy body's are twice as thick, my Manx 1 and MGM body's are about 3 times the thickness as the Berrien.
Berrien is the least expensive they have to cut cost somewhere.
Once again Id keep the Manx 1 the II's as I understand it started out as fairly good quality but once Bruce left the company quality went down hill fast.
Keep both of em |

Every Berrien Body I have had (2 Nostalgias and 1 Citation) have been thicker than my NOS Imp, and my Manx 1 bodies.
The Citation was so thick it was hard for two people to carry in the shop.
I think they have have some trouble with production for time to time but overall they are the leaders out there.
Are you sure his was from Berrien and not a small shop who sold it to a Berrien Dealer?? Or did it come directly from Michigan?

I have built 2 Berrien Nostalgias and 1 body was so flimsy, I spent a few days laying up glass on it so it would survive the dunes. The 2nd body was considerably sturdier.
The gelcoat on each body was very glossy but considerably thinner than the 3 original Manx bodies I have.
I have talked to a couple people that complained about thin fiberglass and have seen a couple other Nostalgias that were substantially thicker then most. I guess it's a "crap shoot" _________________ Jerry...
