So my Ghia's visited many VW mechanics regarding adjusting my 44 webers to the Colorado altitude w/ zero luck. Don't get me wrong, I mean they've fixed the stumbling out of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear "some", but I'm convinced these just won't work in this high altitude
Anyhow, the CPR built engine has around 1K miles on it thus far and I was wondering all your's opinion on what I can get for my 44 IDF Dual Webers. I give up and am going w/ 40's.

It looks like they go for $500 - $700 from the Samba search results I got . _________________ "Depression is a malfunction of the instrument we use to determine reality.”

Give MHarney a PM, or post this in the performance engine section - someone there may be able to help. |

Don't give up on your 44's. I too have an engine built by CPR and I also have carb trouble. You should read the tech articles on this page for Weber IDF's before you go with 40's:
http://waitresses.servebeer.com:81/vwpage/index.htm
First thing you should do is make sure your fuel pressure is 3-3.5 psi, and if your timing is correct, check/set your floats. My floats were off by alot when I got my engine. Then check your jetting. At your altitude, you should have 50 or 52 idles.
If you read the article above, you can learn to do it yourself like I did and you wont have to pay anyone else to mess with it. _________________ oo9less since 2007

Get them dialed in correctly. I ran dual 44's in Denver a few years ago on a 2277 and it ran GREAT! They were jetted for the elevation and I had 0 problems.
Painters Grinding dialed them in for me when they were new. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]
