Hi,
Our cars had pads made of what looks like felt and tarpaper between the gas tank and the instrument panel, under the standard trunkliner. See here for pictures:

Does anyone know if the felt was facing up or down? I have pieces of this pad. It looks as if the tar side has glue stains on it, which would indicate that the felt is facing up. But, I can't tell for certain.
Does anyone know?
Also, were any of the lines (fuel tank sender wiring, washer hose tubing) under this pad?

Thanks,
Mike
