|
|
My boss just gave me a collection of Motor Trend that dates back from 51 till the mid 60's. Each year is organized together by month and packaged up.
I've only gone through 52 and 53 and there are some mentions and reviews of the Beetle in there.
Are these worth anything as a set or should I just cut out the articles that are of interest to me and get rid of the rest?
Thanks all. _________________ Barndoor Mafia

I believe that there is a Motor Trend in the mid '60s with a VW motor on the cover that is worth big bucks.......I see it at the Toy and Lit shows occasionally and it sells for around $100. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." I think you probably see it at the Toy and Lit show and the seller is ASKING for $100. In my years of collecting magazines (and I have a few thousand of them now) I've never seen a Motor Trend sell for more than about $40, and it had to have all the key words in the eBay ad to get that much. Right now on eBay a seller has many of the early ones, in binders. They are asking $14.99 per year and have no bids. Here's the 1951 issues:

Mostly, I think that they are good just for your own entertainment. Not a whole lot of monetary value. _________________

You're probably correct........I just got a PM from a collector friend of mine who said it was the April 1971 edition of Popular Hot Rodding that had the cover in question and sold for the BIG bucks. (he bought it) Sorry everyone........that's what age does to your memory. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |
