I was bored, so did a little research on the web into speedwell.

We all know that BRM made magnesium wheels for the VW, and at the time they were the most expensive wheel you could buy.

Well thanks to flat-four we now have alloy versions of those wheels, and they have even produced them for 4 stud vw's. But,....

Thye originally made them for the mini. Here are some pictures i found and links to a good website on speedwell and mainly british cars.

These Magnesium alloy wheels were supplied to Speedwell by the Racing Car manafacturer BRM in the mid to late 60's. Presumably this was something to do with the fact that Graham Hill was a long time member of the BRM F1 team among others. Reputed to be amongst the strongest and lightest wheels ever made for a Mini they disolved very quickly in the wonderfull British weather and are practically impossible to find today in any condition.

By the way, i want a pair of real BRM's. I want to run genuine Empi 8 spokes on the front with discs and brms on the rear with drums. Just like the race shop did in the early 70's. Cool
