There are NO codes (completely scanned it-alternator and battery are fine).
After driving at highway speeds, exited, stopped at light. As soon as I went to drive, engine died, battery light came on. I was able to immediately re-start the car and drive.
The problem happened again 500 miles later, in a similar situation.
Any ideas on what it could be? (Take note-there are zero codes showing up) |

Usually, an intermittent shut off that doesn’t throw a code is due to a bad crank position sensor.
If your CC has the 2.0 & is over 70,000, I’d suggest having a specialist scan for timing correlation issues, these engines are notorious for timing chain stretch/tensioner failure which will lead to jumped timing & ultimately valve damage.
Does your engine occasionally make a rattle noise when first starting? _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.
