Does anyone have a recommendation for replacement/upgrade connecting rods?
This is for a 1.8L type 4 bus engine.
I see AA has H-Beam available that match the stock 5.0" length. They are on the pricey side though. Curious if there are other alternatives, perhaps I-Beam, that i am missing in my searches

The original rods are very good, why do you think you need an 'upgrade'? _________________ SL |

Mostly was curious for cost comparison.
If there were rods that could be purchased near the $200 range i'd probably consider new rods.
2 quotes nearby from shops puts me at ~$160 for reconditioning my existing rods. _________________ 1972 Westfalia |

If your shops are good, that's a bargain. _________________ Learn how your vintage VW works. And why it doesn't!
