Third highest selling Type 3 on BAT at $28.5k. Not counting Type 3 Ghias of course.
Would any of you Type 3 nerds ever thing a late Squareback would fetch that amount?
I think it was worth it given condition and back story but I’m no expert.

That's one of the cleanest cars out there. Still brought a good price for a 73. _________________ 69 Fastback |

Look what popped up today. Should set a record for Type 3 on BaT.

I was watching that squareback. That thing deserves to be in a showroom somewhere.
My good friend said "Nearly $30k for a Squareback...guess they are the new bus." |

It's funny... when the second design cars came out they were the schizznit and the value of the early cars dropped like a rock as a result. Same with early Transporters when the Baywindow debuted. There was just such a difference in smoothness, quietness, and handling (moreso with the Type 2 but the Type 3 just felt tighter and more surefooted), plus everyone wanted the newer style bodied cars. Nobody cared much about old VWs- they were good cheap $500-750 first cars for students and second cars for a family.
It's good to see the later cars get some well deserved recognition IMO. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Aside from it being incredibly clean, it's also incredibly beige, and beige is my favorite color. If I had 30 grand to throw at a car, there are plenty of worse offerings out there! |

Notch week at BaT!
Another ‘63, this one looks like it’s an abandoned project. All the nasty expensive work has been done, so an easy one to finish.

That car did not actually sell....
I was the second highest bidder at $28,000. and a few days later BAT emailed me and said "the deal fell through" and if I was still interested in the car they would put me directly in touch with the owner....I declined because I had already bought another Squareback (from this site) which I had shipped from California to New York.
By rights BAT should remove the "sold" listing since it wasn't actually sold. |

Oh wow, yeah, that will be misleading if BAT doesn't rectify the "sold" listing at that price if it really didn't sell at all. |
