I purchased a new seal from bus Depot.
It appears to me as if the channel for mounting is intended For the bare metal and not for this heavy duty U-shaped material that is underneath the old seal.
Should I just remove this old U-shaped material and put the new seal on? Or is there some reason I need to retain it? If I retain it, the new seal doesn’t seem to sit very well.

| So I think I’ve figured out what that stuff is. I think a previous owner took door edge guard and used it along that ridge where the two metal plates are joined together and then somehow installed a door seal over top. It’s obvious to me now that I’m going to remove all of that because the seal I bought from bus Depotperfectly and very snuggly on the ridge where the two metal plates meet. |
