Marriage Day for the body & chassis. After several years of detailed work to get to this point, twelve good amigos helped with carrying the body & joining it to the chassis, for the last time. It's been seven years and there is still a lot of work to go to complete it. Pedro & Jack organized the work, adding the bolts to the chassis, and thankfully all the holes lined-up perfectly. Jason, Lee, & Lance helped to heft the bodyshell over the chassis. Eric drove 1000 miles with his trailer to bring it to Pedro's home for finishing. Lionel brought down the restored steering column. And Ron was the one who built the early motor. Bratwurst & Patron kept the crew happy. Our plan is to drive it to the Oct24 Type 3 Rally in Cayucos.

So stoked to have been able to help yesterday. I'm sure the assembly will go quick and be very thorough. Big shout out to Eric for his expert navigation to get the trailer in the right spot to make the push into Pedro's garage easy at teh end of a long day.

Reassembly phase with Pedro Sainz is going as you would expect, really fast! Just in the past 20 days he's got a ton of parts fitted: A) restored steering column by Lionel installed with NOS rubber mounts, B) front hood latch & hood seal installed, C) 1962-only glovebox door decals, D) upper dash pad & repro front windshield with polished aluminum one-piece trim installed, E) windshield corner trim clips, F-G) Euro-style headlights, H) rear shelf vinyl, chassis sound deadening, and side window aluminum trim, I) repro dome light, J) early hub caps rechromed with vinyl logo decals, K) vinyl surrounding the rear seat base, L) rear bumper installed, M) NOS rear hood seal with molded edges installed with OIL decal next to oil dipstick, N) restored fog lights look great, & O) repro pull knob/cable for front hood release.

Just read through this entire post for the first time and all I can say is WOW!!

What a gorgeous build, by extremely talented and capable Type 3 experts.

I'm not far from you in SoCal, can't wait to see you start bringing this thing out to local shows.

Cheers and congrats on such an amazing project.

One little known fact about very early T34s is that the tail pipe exited out the front. They changed it, obviously, later into production. No one ever mentions it, but in this picture you can clearly see it.

So good! The bumpers are really critical to the proportions. Looks so much better with them on.
