The MN Wild aren't technically out of the playoffs, but they may as well be making reservations for tee times in May. |
The company my oldest son works for owns the Dallas Stars so we had mixed feelings last week when Dallas was in town and beat us and we had to wait a few more days to clinch a playoff berth. I could see that my son was a bit on the fence during the game but was happy with the outcome.
We got are asses kicked last night though. |
I'm sure he is also well aware of the disdain most MN fans have for Dallas.

My teams are out, so I have some hopefuls.
My prediction, not what I actually want to see, is Dallas and Boston in the finals.
What I would like to see is Edmonton and Toronto meet in the finals. McDavid and Draisaitl are so fun to watch, and it would seem the Cup needs to be in Toronto at least once in my lifetime.
I do like Hedman and Stamkos in Tampa. And I like what I've seen in Vancouver, too.

I think Vancouver still needs another year to build more grit before they make a deep run but I'm happy that they are in the playoffs.
Growing up in the Niagara Region in Ontario, we used to follow the Leafs so I'd also like to see them get to the finals but they have a habit of not finishing well and getting knocked out early.

Well, we're into Round 2.... The Canucks looked good and our back up, back up goalie has stepped up to hold his own. A few days rest and we're back at it.

The last time the Leafs won the cup was the year I was born. Either they won it because of the "luck" I brought them or I jinxed them as they've never been able to do it again.....I left Ontario in 1991 so it must be someone else's fault now.
Anyway, the Canucks kick off round 2 with the Oilers tonight so it should be a good series. I think the decider as to who wins and moves on will come down to goaltending as both teams can score a lot of goals.

Well, as expected, a fairly high scoring game 1 with the Canucks edging the Oilers 5-4. Goaltending wasn't great on either side but the Canucks owned the 2nd and 3rd periods and came back from being down 4 -1 at the beginning of the 2nd to scrape out the win. Game 2 tomorrow night in Vancouver before heading to Edmonton for games 3 & 4.
