Dumb bulb question

Hey gang,
The running light was a tad dim on the drivers side so I replaced it with the only single filament bulb I had (1156) albeit a larger bulb in size it did fix the problem,,question is a 1156 bulb a acceptable replacement ?

if you use too many watts with a light bulb it could start melting the plastic lens cover. Is the 1156 glass bulb touching the lens?
