Now that I am nearing completion on the tunnel/framehead repairs on my 67, I am going to be temporarily putting the body back on to start doing the floors/heater channel/naps hat/crossmembers etc.

My concern is that one of the rear body mounts was that badly corroded it has collapsed and I need to fix this before I can do anything else, but how can I get it level with the opposite mount so the body sits level on the chassis?

I am thinking of using a digital angle finder across the top of the rear parcel shelf seam and then using it across the bottom of the rear body mounts to build the damaged one to the same level. Can anyone think of a better way?

*this is only a temp repair to get the body back on the frame to sort the floors etc.

Use a tile mason trick.
- Get clear, flexible tubing long enough to reach from one mount to the other.
- Make sure you have about 6 inches of extra tubing on each side beyond the point where you want to measure.
- Fill the tube with water and attach it to the body next to the body mount. (Duct Tape, magnets Etc.)
- Use the water line to find your level point.

You want to ensure the body is level side to side and front to back before you take the measurements for the mounts.
