I’m a bit confused… please help!
Trying to install a new generator, it sits on the generator bracket toward the fan housing, as much as possible.
The fan housing is in the right place, the generator bracket too.
But I still have a gap of almost 1” between the generator shaft and the proper location of the fan… see pictures.
The generator is a standard one, for VW. I don’t think it’s too short… am I wrong?
The last picture is a reference of how it should be.
So what am I doing wrong here?… thanks!

You’re right, I mean alternator, my mistake.
So do I need to get an alternator stand? It’s confusing because the description for many stands in eBay and Amazon is: “alternator/generator stand” or “stand for alternator or generator”.
So are there stands that fit both, and other stands for alternators only? |

If you want to install an alternator you need an alternator stand.
A generator will fit on an alternator stand. An alternator will not fit on a generator stand. _________________ Brian

That is because most sellers on Ebay or Amazon just want to sell something... Many not knowing product specifics........ You need to be a more definitive buyer.... _________________ “Fear The Government That Wants To Take Your Guns" - Thomas Jefferson.
