I’m a bit confused… please help!
Trying to install a new generator, it sits on the generator bracket toward the fan housing, as much as possible.

The fan housing is in the right place, the generator bracket too.
But I still have a gap of almost 1” between the generator shaft and the proper location of the fan… see pictures.

The generator is a standard one, for VW. I don’t think it’s too short… am I wrong?

The last picture is a reference of how it should be.

So what am I doing wrong here?… thanks!

That is not a generator ... that is an alternator. And the stands are different.

You’re right, I mean alternator, my mistake.
So do I need to get an alternator stand? It’s confusing because the description for many stands in eBay and Amazon is: “alternator/generator stand” or “stand for alternator or generator”.
So are there stands that fit both, and other stands for alternators only?

If you want to install an alternator you need an alternator stand.

A generator will fit on an alternator stand. An alternator will not fit on a generator stand.

That is because most sellers on Ebay or Amazon just want to sell something... Many not knowing product specifics........ You need to be a more definitive buyer....
