OMFG.
Synopsis. A large cargo carrier hit the bridge in Baltimore, knocking down.
There are fatalities from cars and people on the bridge.
Prayers for all the people in Baltimore. _________________ .ssS! |

At least it was hit in the wee hours of the morning. That was a busy thoroughfare during the day, this is bad but it could have been much worse. _________________ '69 Beetle (pieces)

Looks like there might of been a power problem on the ship. I'm sure a harbor pilot was onboard. _________________ Glenn

The news is saying that the ship may have notified the MTA that they lost power and the road may have been in the process of closing. I hope that’s the deal and less cars where on the bridge.
My Wife works for an oil company and they just supplied that ship two days prior. _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far

Fuel is bunker. Her company only does oil. And a ships need many types and large quantities of oil. She was on the phone with the mayors office and others yesterday. Just wondering if they saw suspicious activity. _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far

Incredibly, only 6 fatalities from that. Could have been horrific.
In rush hour, 500-1000 cars on span? With a minute of warning, no way they could have cleared it. _________________ .ssS! |

They did an amazing job in less than a 5 minute span. _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far

If they had time to shut down traffic, it makes me wonder why the workers didn't get off the bridge? _________________ Brian

If the workers were all on the roadway filling potholes, maybe no one was at the car radio to hear the warnings? _________________ Current Fleet:

Ship's horn? I would hope they were sounding it in the minutes leading up to impact. _________________ Kafer_Mike

One article said that the black boxes stopped recording when the power went out and started recording when the power came back on again..... no back up power source like a UPS for critical systems on a ship? _________________ *******************************

Yes, sounds pretty lousy. But I also figure we are hearing a lot of misinformation and I'll wait to pass judgement until it all comes out. _________________ Current Fleet:

Cue the conspiracy theories.
If they only work when active power is supplied that seems insane to me. _________________ How to Post Photos

That’s actually the case on planes. The CVRs overwrite so you want them off after a crash. I don’t believe flight data has a battery power, it is powered off the engine generators only. Fact check? _________________ .ssS! |
