I run a shop and we took in a 69 Beetle project car. Supposedly had new motor, etc. Found flywheel pins sheared. Replaced flywheel, pressure plate and disc.
New battery turned out to be 4 years old.... you get the picture.
Finally to my question. After cruising this site, it appears the transmission is out of a later (72 + up?) beetle.
But...It looks like the throw out bearing collar is rubbing on the disc's shoulder.
We are trying to sort this car out for the owner but not sure what we are fighting here.
Any advice is appreciated. Tell me what you want a picture of and I'll try to get it.

Pics of the TO bearing area and your pressure plate, if possible.

Earlies had no sleeve, lates had the sleeve and a different corresponding pressure plate. Mixing them up is bad...

1972 transmission needs a pressure plate WITHOUT a center ring.
