I’m looking for dimensions to make a pre-52 tool roll from leftover correct interior material I have.
I need the outer and inner dimensions where the tools are inserted so I can create the pockets accurately.
Thanks! |

not sure of the year or tool selection, but sometimes a reply can bump
me into viewing my conundrum from another angle.
if you know the dimension of a tool(s), you should be able to lay out
which ones you are going to include on a sheet of kraft paper.
to make this, obviously you have tailoring skills, so add whatever you
need to turn the seams & hem. my mother would go so far as to cut
out & pin the pattern together.
of course all of this goes out the window if you need historically
accurate dimensions, in which case i cannot help!

this thread has dimensions of a barndoor 5 pocket tool roll which I would expect to be a similar size to what you're looking for.

this is from noheb
he states - Tool roll and jack bag for my april 1951 type 1 split [bottom of photo]. The tool roll fits in the pocket on the side of the jack bag. the split tool roll is smaller [lengthwise] than the later zwitter/early oval tool rolls, and it has 5+2 pockets, zwitter and early oval tool bags have 5+1 pockets. _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

i REALLY like the tool rolls made from matching fabric (as the upholstery).
perhaps a way to use scraps from VW perspective,
but it wreaks of class from mine! |
