I’ve read that somewhere that VW never officially had a 55 Ghia, they were all produced for the 56 model year.

When you combine this document, with the fact that the karmann Ghia lowlight registry shows the oldest Ghia known was built august 22, 1955, there no 1955 ghias, only cars built in 1955 for model year 1956.
