I have added some text to my signature in my profile settings, and have 'Yes' for showing it but it does not appear in my posts.
I noticed that there is a check box in the post editor to 'attach signature' which isn't checked by default. Is that normal that I'd need to check it for each post? |

Yes, I believe you need to check "Attach signature" in your post. I think thereafter it will remember your choice and continue to be checked by default in new posts. It always is checked by default for me (I assume I clicked the check box at some time in the past).

You did not have "Always attach my signature" set to Yes in your profile.
This is On/set to Yes by default so maybe you turned it off by mistake?
It sounds like you want it On/Yes so I changed it for you.
When it's set to Yes in your Profile, you do not have to check the box when posting as it will be checked all the time by default.

I had ‘Display signatures in posts’ on, I don’t see the option you referenced. Do I have a different interface?
Now the option is checked on by default as I edit this post, so something did change.

This is fixed now
Always attach my signature:
will appear now above
Always allow BBCode:
It's weird but I think that's been broken for quite a while and no one noticed so thanks!
I didn't notice because as the admin, I got the option to turn it on/off either way.
