I saw this toy in a recent catalog I got in the mail. I thought someone out there would be interested in this.

It reads: Die Cast VW show Hauler set. Heading for two more blue ribbons at the car show, our die cast replicas of these classic Volkswagens travel in Style. Set includes 1:25 scale model of the VW Van "Samba," 1:24 scale model of the VW Beetle and trailer with loading ramp. Beetle features opening doors and opening trunk with spare tire. Both vehicles include moving rubber tires and detailed interiors. Colors may vary, our choice, please. Van: 6.75"; car 6.5"; trainer 8" with ramp up.

In 1998 the was action for a better enviroment against old cars. It was said old cars without a katalysator destroys the enviroment and this cars should end on the yards. There was a lot of publicity and in each town was action to get the oldest car and to change it to a new with a catalysator. This owner give his perfect 1955 split away, because he gets a new Fiat for 20.000 Dollars. When he sells this car, he gets only 5.000 Dollars.The car was by this publicity action complety destroyed like this split bus. Some other nice cars ended in this time, some beetles, Karman Ghia or old Renault 4. I Know that the junkworkers are in this time sad, it wasn't allowed to take parts from this car and some nice cars in perfect condition have their quick end on the yards. It was a nice idea for selling more new cars. Ford destroys in this time 100.000 cars and some other firms like Opel(GM) or Fiat make some money with this action.
