Here is a pic of my clutch cable tube and boden tube. It looks like the tab that holds the tube up has broken off, I've resecured with some zip-ties temporarily. I've tried to shorten the Boden tube as per Bentley-not sure if I'm doing it right.

Here is a pic of the splice job the PO did. It just has a hose clamp holding it straight. I guess this could work, then again it has worked for the approx 5 years I've had it. Do they sell wider hose clamps?
