The KdF-Wagen reached its production "form" in 1938 with a
985ccm engine.
In the 1943 model year, the car received an 1131ccm engine (something already
in the military Kübelwagen from 1939 onward).
This reproduction brochure was sold by Automuseum Wolfsburg in 1998, upon the
60th anniversary of the 1938 model year.
Partial Translation of Page 7: Top speed of the individual gears and climbing ability with 300 KG cargo at sea level: 1) First Gear: 20 KPH (12 MPH) & 32 degree climbing ability. 2) Second Gear: 40 KPH (25 MPH) & 18 degree climbing ability. 3) Third Gear: 65 KPH (40 MPH) 9 degree climbing ability. 4) Fourth Gear: 100 KPH (62 MPH) top speed. Fuel consumption = 7 Liters per 100 Kilometers. Fuel tank with reserve = 25 Liters. Stopping distance at 40 KPH = 7 meters' distance. Acceleration from Zero to 60 KPH = 14 seconds. Top speed = 100 KPH (62 MPH). |
