The time has co.e for me to sell this a.azing bus. I'm neck deep in the 64 Type 34 Convertible Ghia build and need the funds. Part of my future plans included selling this bus and having one finished car I drive and polish on weekends.
If anyone is interested or knows someone who might be - this is the heads up before I list it, picture it all up, write about it to put on bring your trailer kind of stuff.
Please PM me direct. I will list it here if it does not sell first. So stay tuned. |
Damn Jason.. It appears a lot of us "older" guys are thinning out our collection of VW's. I sold my bus a couple of years ago as I needed the room and I just wasn't using it. The younger couple who purchased it were thrilled to get it and start lots of memories with camping trips.
I know a few other Samba folks who are also quietly thining their collection down as well.
That's a great bus and I bet you sell it fast. |
Im not the only one for sure. VW has been a rabbit hole of fun since I was 16. Now at 53 Im tired. I thought the 74 Westy build was it. Now I have this Ghia Im dumping money into. But this is for sure the last of it. Then I can be that guy that may or may not show up at coffee and cars, that big show somewhere, in a nice little convertible Ghia.
Then to tackle the parts, bits and bobs I have collected over the years. |
Congrats seeing it off to its next life Jason. You were a great care keeper for that bus. Hopefully the next owner will enjoy it as much as you did.
We are certainly seeing a pattern with a lot of us older VW guys thinning out our heard of VW's and stash of parts. I like seeing the 20's and 30's folks buying these old VW's and starting their own memories. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Someone is going to get a really nice Bus! Too bad you can't keep it but if you are not using it much and your passion is for the Ghia, it makes sense. _________________ *******************************

I cant recall but I want to say stock, but they are Empi off road ones that don't have the clips at the end and are meant to float inside the CV. _________________

Wow, 12' at 20 seconds would be huge! Respect, if you paddle out in that. |

One of the things lifting the rear does is make the CVs farther apart.
It could cause binding on the cages like you got.
Off-roaders will not run the c-clips on the ends of the axle and just leave it floating captured by the flanges.
It will pound on the flange seals on the trans end, so often you see those just pookied up with some RTV vs. running the seals.
So maybe you have a free fix available? |
They are longer off road Empi crap with crap CV's They float too. No clips Thats why I wanted that link to those other CV's - so when I drive it three, maybe four times a year, Ill be good.
Like a month back I was driving the piss out of it as it was my work car. Now Im a Dodge man.
Room is open brother. Let me know when you coming down for a weekend vaycay.

Something like these sets?
|
Notch has helped himself to all the poo pails and unique accessories in one picture and Clatter has surfed that weak mush in the other.
Silly shit like this, is why the bay forum is the best.

What just happen here? Notchboy drives this bus like twice a year. Is there a PSA going on? Clatter sees dead people, freaky engine jive, VW oddities, and solid surf sets.
