I'm new to the forum, but have had a 69 Westy for 20 years now. My brother's had it in Seattle for the past 10 years so I had gotten away from VWs for a while. So now it's back in Louisiana and time for a full restoration. Not many VW resources down here in Louisiana so this site is great with lots of great info. I just rebuilt one of my jalousie windows with the rubber kit from WB West and it came out great. I am beginning to work on the other one and am having trouble getting the main frame screws out without tearing the heads off. They look like a phillips head machine screw with a long snout with no threads on the snout and the snout is thinner than the screw body. Sorry I'm working on being able to post pictures. Any idea what size these are or where I might get replacement. I called Bus Boys and did not get much help.

Dunno if this applies to your screw problem, but it's very thorough.

Thanks, I've been there and it was a real help. My first set came out great. But it looks like on the second set I'm going to need some new fastners.

what seals did you get in the WB West kit. i need to rebuild mine also. the seals that seal the 3 panes to each other is what i am looking to find. are they included?

send pics when you can.

All of the seals for the entire window were in the kit. Here's the link:

http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=231069413 about 25.00 per set. They fit well and are good quality. This link http://homepage.mac.com/ratwell/78_Westy/PhotoAlbum59.html has great pictures on the rebuild. Go slow, but the result is worth it. The one I finished looks brand new.
