i will be painting my car in a day or two and was thinking of using sealer i have alot of the epoxy leftover ,my question is i finished sanding my whole car with 4oo grit i may have sanded through in a few areas i was going to seal the whole car with the sealer and heard u dont have to sand .once its on u can paint ..i will be using single stage enamel ppg omni.how long do i wait before shooting the ss basecoat..the info on the p sheet says u have a 3 day window of time or u have to scuff the epoxy and that the epoxy drys in 1/2 hour.do i wait until the sealer is completely dry then start shooting the basecoat,or when it is slighltly wet also im having ahrd time understanding why u wouldnt sand the sealer prior to painting?.any input appreciated

Im not familiar with omni epoxy. I definatly wouldnt wait a day or two to apply the single stage. When epoxy dries it get rock hard and not much in the way of paint will penetrate it. You should look at the Psheet and see what the flash time is before topcoating. Most epoxys I have use is about 30 min to an hour. Just dont apply it too wet because epoxy can take forever to flash if its put on to heavy. The reason you wont have to sand it is that the epoxy will not be fully cured therefore allowing the topcoat to chemically bond with it. Just make sure that the body is preped well because you will catch hell trying to sand a defect out of epoxy while its still soft.

Hey- Sealer like you speak of is to be painted over in as little as 15 minutes after application up to around 24 +/- hours wothout having to touch it. Simply, wet-on-wet... This is the term used for the application you desire. As long as the sealer does not react in any way (negatively) with the surface, you may continue your paintjob direclty over it without sanding. The sealer will ensure the car has an entirely clean, effective surface for the new paint to stick to. I hope this helps.
