View original topic: JB Weld on intake manifold

I have a single port , the intake manifold has what looks like " weak spots " forming after the curve on the right side heat riser area. Its hasnt burned threw yet but looks like it will at anytime. This is the second intake manifold ive had on this car that remained perfect except for that same area. I was thinking of putting some of that heat resistant jb weld over the spots before burn threw. Just wondering if anyone has used the jb weld heat resistant stuff on intake manifolds and if everyone else experiences the right side burning threw while the rest of the manifold is still completely usable?

I have used regular JB Weld to fill some pitting on the heat risers at the 90’s.
Seems to be holding up fine so far.

Good Luck

Belzona epoxy is very good but very expensive.

Devcom makes a good high temp epoxy putty. All of the epoxies and putties are for temporary repair.

Ceramic header wrap will seal it and keep engine compartment cooler, wrap the rest of the exhaust system while you're at it.

If and when it burns through, take the intake off the car and weld the hole closed!

Had JB pop off after the first backfire, we had a hole drilled in heat riser to clean it out and tried JB, welded it after that.
May work without a backfire!

I used JBWeld on the heat tube elbows after I drilled through to clear them out. Been holding up just fine.

I use JB Weld to repair my teeth.
The dentist suggested that in the future I should use white instead of black.

If you are worried about backfires and don't care about the aesthetics, wind some thin wire over the JB weld as a "bandage".

Use relatively thin wire and wrap close together i.e. butting up side to side. Go a little bit past both ends of the repair.

They make it in white?, good to know, I've got a filling getting loose. :P

As for tiny holes in heat risers a small patch of header wrap or wood stove door gasket secured with a worm hose clamp isn't pretty, but very effective.

How do you get your teeth completely dry? Torch?

I forgot to mention - after some sanding, cleaning and painting (gray), you can't tell anything was done.

3/8" brass freeze plug and super glue will impress your friends & family.
