Does anyone have an opinion on the differences in quality, finish, weight between Flat4 and Maxilite?

Here are the 15x4.5 offerings from both. Prices are similar.

I'm trying to achieve a 1967 Fuchs look which is more of a satin polish and have been unable to learn exactly how either mfgr finishes their wheels: anodized, polished, clearcoated etc.

first, if you're going for an accurate look, then the wheel has three finishes. Paint between the petals (obvious), frosted in the recess (where later wheels are black), and a polished then anodized face of the petals.

as seen here on this original..

as far as which wheel is best...the maxilite wheel does not have the "heart" shape at the valve stem which is a dead giveaway of a reproduction. The Flat 4 has the small logos near the valve stem which need to be carefully sanded off. Beyond that, both wheels are decent and would fool pretty much everyone except Fuchs collectors. How you achieve the frosted and anodized portions of the wheel is difficult aside from actually getting the wheels anodized.

I’ve seen the anodized look faked with taping and carefully using scotchbrite pads. You will have many hours into the rims to fully get this look. It took me hours and lots of tape just to do the black webs on the 67 style look maxilites I did.

These are the wheels I used. They have the heart.
