I just tried some of this stuff to strip some paint off an old pedal car I am goofing around with.
Gotta say it worked really pretty well. Far better than their prior formula. The fumes were OVERWHELMING though. Ended up having to wear the respirator I wear for painting.
Not sure what they changed but I had some of their old formula and it barely touched the paint on the pedal car. This stuff lifted it right off pretty quickly (15 minutes?).
Not sure what kind of paint was on there but it was fighting the 40 grit on the DA pretty well. |

Apparently it's specifically formulated to remove automotive 2k coatings. They probably finally figured out something that works somewhat like the old stuff from the Methylene Chloride days.
Glad to hear it. I was going to need to start stripping paint soon and was dreading trying to use the useless stuff that replaced the old stuff. |

Exactly! Thats why I posted. I miss the old stuff too. This really lifted the paint to the point it was just sliding off. Granted it was an old pedal car but I tried the DA with some 80 and then 40 grit and it was really putting up a fight. |

I could only find one MSDS issued from 2019 for Klean-Strip Aircraft Paint Remover which still appears to be for sale.
It contains 60-80% Methylene Chloride so it’s pretty potent!! |

I started stripping the paint from my bus, and used a can of old Zip Strip I found in my garage. It worked really well.
Then I went to buy more and discovered that in 2019 they banned Methylene Cloride and now all the new stuff sucks.
We need a paint stripper black market. |

I haven't but I'll look for it when my current can runs out. Sounds like it may be too potent. I'm trying to save as of the OG paint as I can.

You may want to look at CitriStrip. I used it to strip my entire Ghia to bare metal. It had the OG paint plus 2 additional resprays. CitriStrip is slow but it works well so it may suit your purpose. An added bonus is that it won't try to kill you if you get it on your skin. I got some in my eye and just rinsed it out with water.
You cab get it at Hone Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Citristrip-1-qt-Safer-.../307416109 |
