I know this his been discussed infinitely before, but was hoping for some more recent data/ advice. Since moving back to the east coast and the land of salty roads, my rocker panels have gone to hell in a rust bucket. I don't really have the cash to have a body shop or Line X do it, so I am hoping for some advice on spray on vs roll on bed liner application. The Go-Westy spray on Raptor stuff is $180 ($130 on Amazon) and Herculiner roll on stuff is about the same price. I don't have a ton of experience doing body work, but am pretty detailed oriented and ambitious. At this point I have everything sanded down and primed. Just hoping for a pretty consistent coat and a decent line (that's all - I know - thats everything). So, any advice positive or negative would be helpful.

Thanks!

Look at the monstaliner product. Can't remember how much it costs, but comes with very rough rollers to get the texture you like in layers sort of. I bought a gallon of it, the activator, the rollers, etc years ago and finally threw out the stuff cuz i never used it and it had an expiration date.

If you look on amazon, they have some sort of auto detailing tape. not sure what it's called, but it has a metal wire strip at one edge so you can get a super nice tight line where you stop the liner and go to paint.

hope it turns out nice.

Monstaliner. Check out my gallery: entire hightop Syncro done in BloodBath Red. Recently knocked out seam rust and reapplied: works great for us after mandatory prep work.

It’s probably me, but when I see it, the first thought I have is what’s it hiding? To the original poster, I think “covering” rusty sheetmetal with bedliner would be a mistake. If you or the next owner decides to deal with the rust, it’s a cuss job.

Thanks Mark - I think that's good advice. Will need to likely reconsider my options.

i would agree on an old vehicle like ours to some degree, however, I see new(er) trucks completely painted with this stuff all the time. Most are rancid color schemes, but nevertheless I see em semi-frequently.

I do agree that simply covering up problems is a bigger problem. Especially rust.
