How long will it last? I couldn't get the spring things back in place at the top of the boot and eventually stretched both that I tried.
Replaced both boots on the drivers side. Bottom one was leaking a little. Cleaned them both out really good and neither had much play at all. So I packed them with new grease and put on new boots from aircooled.net.
Not a very fun job. Took about 2 hours for both boots on one side. Greased all the nipples on the front end as well. New brake rotors, ate pads, and front brake lines all within the past few weeks as well.
I put some good quality skinny zip ties on the ball joint boots because it's all I have that fits in the groove.
Is there a better option available that I can use without having to take the spindle off again? |

Zip Ties is fine.
Stainless seizing wire works OK too (soft annealed 302/304 stainless wire)
As long as it stays on it works. |

I have some wire I can use but was worried about how tight I would be able to get it. I could twist it around a bunch where it came together but that seems like it would be a pinch point. |

I've seen zip ties on rubber suspension boots last the life of the car.
How tight on wire? Just enough to squeeze the rubber a little bit. |

Buy a quality black nylon tie and it should last for many years.
I too have used soft stainless wire and had good luck. |

With a pair of these and some small wire…

…you can get some dang good results that will outlast the boots themselves.
