I can’t seem to get them to respond to my messages on EBay. Are they on this forum? Anyone have any other contact info? Are they responsive?

Make your own. I'm doing mine right now. I use google to research various wiring diagrams to determine the best solution for each circuit. I started with a $35.00 8 circuit fuse panel. It has labeled wires to get you started.

I second the Rebel Wire harness. Ive used 2 and have another “Deluxe” kit for my new street/strip buggy build.

Dune Buggy Brothers harness is by far worth every nickel. Headlights and taillights were the only wires I had to mess with. They even wired in a flat four towing plug for me.

I am using a stock speedo and steering column. Tach, radio, and a spare 12v acc wire or two were provided. The harness is truly plug and play. Harness fit my buggy/chassis surprisingly well. I went from absolutely zero wires, to a running, driving, buggy in less than 2 or 3 hours.

Doubt I could have bought the wires, terminals, heat shrink, ect for much less than their harness costs.

Opposite experience here, I don't think there was a single wire i did not have to change. This surprised me as i have a clone of the original manx and sent him a very detailed list including every electrical component i was using and it's exact placement.
Out of the box you cannot use the horn button in the steering wheel, which is just plain stupid. There are wires missing to make the wipers work as designed, the ignition switch pigtail is separate and 3' too long, he says you will thank him later for this, i don't think so.
Headlight leads 18" too long, License plate light lead 18" too short, no wires for front running lights, if you are using a dimmer relay and don't have a nos one from 1967, you will have to add a wire to use the aftermarket replacements available. Out of the box there are local ground leads for everything instead of a simple central ground strip, so you will be drilling holes everywhere, the list goes on. I actually sent mine back to address some of this after i got it, the pics below are some of what was required AFTER he went through it the second time. I also found him difficult to contact and he generally did not address my questions in his replies, when he did reply a week or so later.
My impression is, if you are in a hurry to get your car done, don't mind drilling a hole in your dash for a horn button even though you already have a button on your steering wheel, do not care how hokey pokey something is as long as no one can see it, don't mind coiling extra wire up and stuffing it somewhere, this is the harness for you.
If you put a lot of attention to details, like things just so even if no one can see them, you will SAVE time and money starting from scratch.
I don't mean to bash the harness, so I have to admit I am pretty anal about details, but I have too many frustrating hours into unwrapping, modifying and re wrapping this harness. Too much $$ invested in terminals, shrink tube and wrap to call it plug and play. If you are all about the details, build your own.

It's always better to use the same color codes as the original VW wiring...so easy to work on !

And the wires are available new...
for example : https://www.csp-shop.com/en/electric/automotive-cable-971-010-br-29421a.html

I hate these only one color wires that don't match the VW schema, horrible to deal with and what a waste of time ... :roll:
I have once worked on a buggy which had all the wires in the same color !!! :evil:

Yeah....

Usually try to have at least 6-8 different colors, some color repeats are ok because its pretty easy to identify which green wire does what IF there is only 2 of them, but 18-20 green wires is a horror...

I did my own wiring and selected my own colors, but every wire was tagged as to what it dos... System came up 100% with no errors, but I have to say it would have been easier and probably less expensive to just use something like Rebel kit where each wire is designated.... You can order wires with function coded on them but at that point you probably should just buy a kit....
