now that I have the front floor all fixed and painted, I have brown rust stains on the rubber floor mat from the prior condition of the floor. It makes the new white floor look like shit and ZI'm afraid it may just find a tiny scratch and begin the process all over.
Any way to remove the rust stains on the floor mat without wrecking the rubber? I scrubbed the shit out of them but the stains remain. |

Use some stuff called "Bar Keepers Friend" it comes in a container like Comet or Ajax....a powder. I get it at the grocery store, or dollar store. make a paste of it with water and smear it on the rust and let it sit for a hour or so. Then clean it off with water. It has Oxalic acid in it and will eat your rust's ass. |

Bar keepers friend (abrasive powder) is great but another solution is Whink rust stain remover (thin liquid). Not sure which is best or safest on rubber without discoloring, always try on an unseen spot first. |

I wonder if a 0000 Steel Wool with any kind of cleaner as a lubricant would work if you don't scrub too hard. Only concern would be leaving a flat spot on the rubber because in a way you are sanding down part of the surface, kind of like a magic eraser. |
