Hi, I'm new to the VW world and I am trying to figure out what's wrong with my transmission. I bought a 1999 VW Passat 1.8t automatic with the slap shifter to the right with only 70,000 original miles on it... I'm not sure if it is in limp mode or not... I can't tell but it seems like it's stuck in 2nd gear all the time... Park, neutral work perfect, car just starts out slow and will not shift at all... The car will drive but not shift... I did put the computer on it and it came back that the #1,3, and 4 Silinoids needs to be replaced... But I keep reading in different forums that the TCM could of got wet before and may just be a bad TCM but I did take out the passenger seat and looked under the rug today at the TCM but it don't look wet at all in the box... Is there anything else i should check before I replace the silinoids??? And if I DO have to replace the silinoids, where are they located and how hard are they to replace??? Thanks allot!!!

Although someone here might be of some assistance, I bet that asking those questions on some forum for watercooled modern cars is going to be more efficient.
