Has anyone mounted a 195/50/15 on a 5" wheel? Just wondering how anyone feels about this match. I have some Formula Vee wheels (I think) and would like to put that size on them.

They'll fit, but your tire guy will hate you as they'll be a bitch to get on the rim and seated. That size tire should be mounted on a 6-7" rim.

They look a little goofy on a 5.5 inch wheel. The short sidewalls are tucked inward.

A 195X60 or 195X70 would look better & fill the fenderwell better than a 195X50. Looks like you have 60-70 Series tires on it now? 40-50 Series tires look like rubber bands. :wink:

I wouldn't recommend anything less than a six inch wide wheel.

I have some 185X60 on 4.5" stock wheels so I think he'll be okay with 195's on 5" wide aluminum wheels? He might find they are 5.5" wide when he takes the old tires off? I have 185X60 & 205X70 on 5.5" wide 2.0 liter Fuchs wheels. He does have flared fenders & lots of room for bigger tires & wheels! :twisted:

Thanks Mike. I did measure them and I believe they are 5.5" wheels.

The tires mounted currently are 205/65/15.

Well I would probably buy new 205X60-70 again. Why do you want smaller? We always want bigger! :lol:

I'm putting disc brakes and dropped spindles on so I was a little concerned about clearance. Eventually I want to get rid of the flared fenders.

I just picked up some 185/55 15's for the front, and honestly I wish I would have went 60 on the sidewall. They are thinner than I thought they would look. But then again I like sum meats on my wheels.

I'm running a 195/65/15 on the rear, on a 5.5" wheel, and they have quite a bit of width and sidewall and fit really good.

No way I would get rid of the flared fenders on that car!
Just my opinion, but the car is a nice 70's period piece as is.
I'd look for wider wheels, like Fentons or Torque Thrust in 14 x 6, and 14 x 8.

Show us a picture of it sitting on the garage floor. The disc brakes and dropped spindles come First, before the new tires &/or wheels. Keep the flares, so you can run bigger rather than smaller! 8)
