I have a 1972 Bay Window, would like to get a Single Piece Middle Side Glass
like in the picture below.
Seems this glass is/was offered for Right Hand Drive Buses, Europe..
I want to trash my side Glass w/ the Vent, which has Broken Shaft on the Lower Frame, I like the Clean Look of the Euro single glass pane.
Do I need to get custom cut glass and a custom seal or does anyone offer the Glass and The Seal here in the US?
Thanks!

Won't you miss the ventilation?
I have some side vent windows, if you need one. |

I got rid of my rear vent window for the same reason. Do they even provide any ventilation?
I bet you can get a body shop to custom order you one or even get one of those shops that replace windshields while you wait can do it. |

I had to order a custom windshield for my buggy and is wasn't even 100 euro's.
So I think the easiest way is just let somebody make them for you. |

I may just keep the Vent on the Sliding Door or Vice Versa, I love the Clean Look of the Single Glass.
Yea living in California would miss the extra breeze in the summer.
I'm thinking if I find some glass, I can take it to one of the Local Water Jet Services and have them cut me the Glass, but would need to find a Gasket first for dimensioning, I would then have to make a .DXF File on my Cad system for them to input into their CNC Water Jet machine.. I'm sure I could get a deal on the cut at $60.00 labor.. |

I replaced my vent wing with a single piece just recently. I couldnt find anyone that sells new pieces and no one was willing to ship due to how easily they break. I approached a couple of places about cutting one for me but the width of new glass is not the same as the OG stuff and would cause leaks. I got lucky and found one at a junk yard. The two sides are reversible which makes it a little easier. |

Hey Scootty, I have the piece of glass you are looking for, its used, but official VW. It can be used for either side. Not sure where you can get the seal but then I haven't looked at all. Im in Tustin, PM me for details if you're interested.

do you think that you could provide the measurements so a future search would have the info should someone want the glass? |

I like the smooth look, but in the summer here the vent really adds circulation right behind my head |

Good idea...
Yes I could upload a Drawing to scale on this Glass.
I could also do a .dxf Cad for a CNC cut..
I will try to get to that tomorrow.
Again thanks to Frost in Tustin I'm stoked to have this glass. :D

So they are the same size as the 78-79 slider windows ? |

Per the request:
Here are the dimensions, to scale +/- 1/16" of a Single Pane of Side Glass,
in lieu of the Louvered Windows or the Vented Wing 2 Part Middle Glass, as described above, below.
I like the clean look of a single piece of glass, typical of EURO? Buses T2 and T25S. Some sites say 'after it left the factory.. 'Converted' Not sure if that means after market (please chime in on that - discuss).
Anyway here are the glass dimensions, should be easy for any water jet service to cut this, it is perfectly flat glass, 3/16" thick, the original is probably safety glass, obviously German SEKURIT-1, D89, M89, AS2, consider Lexan or Plexiglass as a easily machined alternate.
Also thanks again to 19Frost71 - Jon in Tustin - The Cool, Cool one for Hooking me up!
Enjoy! Thanks Scootty!

I love the smooth look too and went that way on the back of my bus but man does the air get stale back there. I would think all solid windows might lead to some problems.
I'd love to lose my jealousies for these is someone comes up with a good solution. Right now those have to be open or the kids start complaining on hot days...I just think they look weird open on the road and they rattle a lot. |

the euro kombi came with that window installed, and a vent window on the slider only iirc, but you could order some odd options back then....
as far as the jalousie windows go, it says in the owners manual not to drive with them opened. I am going to guess that there is too much stress/flex for the rivets and mechanism to withstand |

i have a one piece in my slider door, but my slider is trashed so i recently bought a used slider to replace it and want the one piece to go back in. i was told by the shop i bought it from, always v-dub here in town, that the seal was the same as the one for the one piece windows in back, so that's the one i bought (off him, of course). i haven't tried it yet but can anybody confirm that this works? the one posted from bus depot is actually cheaper as well. |

Chaci I can't say for certain if the seal for the rear side will work, as I have not tried it myself. but I would be very surprised if it didn't, the two pieces of glass side by side were very similar. Just give it a try. |
