You might want to ask childofthewind. She knows that area pretty well, methinks.
Send her a PM. |

On my present long trip from Ontario thru Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, I have been doing a lot of stealth camping. It is somewhat stressful as you expect someone to come knocking but the Cdn Maritimes seems much different. People even stop to talk to you, guess its their way of checking you out. Generally I only do 2 nights and days in each location but as I said, being from a much different area that would never allow it does make it stressful. I've even gotten used to "popping my top". |

not much stealth camping out on the cape (or the outer cape, anyway, where i've lived on and off for many summers).
i never tried stealth camping since i had a place to live but when i needed a little trip away from my driveway i would go to a place called North of Highland Campground in Truro which is between wellfleet and provincetown, close to the national seashore.
herring cove, in provincetown (one of my favorite places on earth) is next to a campground out on the beach/in the sand. there will be less people out there but you still have to pay.
there are NP and local police everywhere on the cape. they will hassle you if you try to hunker down for the night somewhere.
good luck and say hello to the cape for me! |
