For twenty dollars, yes. For more, no.

Thanks for the feedback. My wife was at a show and this guy had a bunch of nazi items and these pins. I was 98% they were fake but the guy insisted that he deals in real non reproductions and that they were indeed real. I talked to a friend of mine who owned a real one once and he thought it was fake as well but the pin looked somewhat correct.

Anyhow thanks

Hello,

Both pins are obvious fakes !!!!

Here is a link with information about the 1938 KdF Wagen Cornerstone Ceremony pin produced by MAYER.

In that link there is shown two backsides as originals.
One says PFORZNEIM instead of PFORZHEIM on the back.
Wich highly qualifies it as a fake as well.

usariemen,

Sorry, but you are so wrong !!

A closer look reveals it is an H and not a N as you imply.

The photo is somewhat grainy but when I do a close up, the stylize H does not connect to the corners to form an N.

This is an original badge with the PFORZHEIM on the back.

. . .

I don“t claim to be an expert on these.
At least I held one in my hands once that was an original for 100% sure.
It was made of a very very light metal. Weight wise it felt almost like plastic.
There was no writing at all on the back.
The very total majority of those I see on pics or real are differend and fakes for me. While this item seems to be the most reproduced one ever.

usariemen,

After being in the Vintage VW arena for over 45 years and seeing many of the originals and fakes of not only the Cornerstone Ceremony Badges but other items as well. I was tired of seeing too many collectors getting ripped off from sellers offering repros and claiming to be original KdF Wagen era items. So with that said, I took it upon myself put together this Cornerstone Ceremony Badge article and information after years of research to inform those buyers to be aware and to know and understand what they are buying. This information has been published in several VW magazines as a Cornerstone Ceremony Badge authenticity reference guide.

So now you are claiming my information as being not correct and a fake ? ? ?

usariemen . . . Since you seem to have all the information, maybe it is time that you put together all your knowledge, expertise and photos and create an reference article that will inform future buyers of the Cornerstone Ceremony Badge of original versus fake!

Until then, I will still use my article and information as a reliable reference source for those collectors interested in the Cornerstone Ceremony Badge.

All I claimed was not to be an expert on these.
I just have my personal point of view on them, based on my own observation. If that is bullshit and you know better, OK, fine.

I hate anything with a swastika on it =;
I know the history of the Volkswagen, but the car itself could not help it that nazi's were involved. I hate nazi's as much, if not even more, as swastika's.
The badges in the pictures seem pretty fake to me, for instance the red paint looks way too new for being 70 years old, and there is no visible wear and tear at all.
Why someone would enjoy reproducing those badges, and why someone would want to wear a pin like that (which clearly might be a reproduction), is a true mystery to me, but that's just my 2 cents.
I would pay to see them get scrapped :)

Hi tisius,

Usually when you can reproduce an item for financial gain . . it will be done!

Interestingly enough, the swastika was used as a good luck symbol, like the four leaf clover, in the USA in the early 1900's. The swastika symbol was very popular especially in the USA jewelry business. The popularity vanished when this good luck symbol was hijacked by the Third Reich!

Bob thanks for the link. My wife and I found it to be very interesting reading. She almost bought the pins after I told her I thought they were fake because the guy kept insisting they were real as he does not deal in reproduction material. I believe he is telling the truth but may not really know.

Any how thanks
