What common wheels will fit a 4 bolt vw Bug or Ghia withoout modification.
A list like that would be some useful practical information. Knowing the rarest set of vw wheels is nice information to know but not of use to the guys and gals who have a 4 bolt VW.
Between nice to know and useful, I chose the useful information everytime.
Thanks for both

4 Lug VW Wheels...
Beetle and Karmann Ghia have different Factory offsets.
Beetle offset is 34mm
Karmann Ghia & Type 3 offset is 46mm
Most will fit the Beetle but not the Karmann Ghia.
Plenty of 4lugs to look at here.

The 4 bolt VW is 4x130. The only other vehicle with the same is the Porsche 914. |

I've never found another car that had desirable wheels also in 4x130. There is an Alfa that was Europe only that had this bolt pattern and a few others.
oconnell, what are you after, the specific answer to your question can more or less be found from any vw part supplier such as CB Performance, CIP1, Kustom1 Warehouse etc. |

I'd keep an eye on the classifieds, they pop up from time to time but so uncommon that you dont see them much. |

As mentioned earlier, there is not much choice. Find some old Porsche 914/6 wheels, or the repro 4-lugs that are produced by the aftermarket. To answer your questions, in Europe some Skoda's had 4 x 130 wheels, as well as some Italian cars such as Lancia Fulvia, etc.
You can also get some nice polished aluminum 4 x 130 wheels that are spun brand new from companies like Custom Metal Spinning...that's the route I went for a lighter wheel that is still strong enough for street use (CMS will make pretty much any width or backspace that you want). |

I think the list you're requesting is impossible to be exhaustive from the angle of this forum. I would call someone like Minilite or Momo- to see what their fit lists look like (because they've been around forever. Their lists would obviously have their available lug patterns, backspacing, etc. What they would likely LACK is a discussion about hub clearance.
A common swap in the pickup world is between 6 lug Toyota, Nissan and Chevys. Yes, same bolt pattern, but rim diameter from one Toy won't fit another, The Tacomas fit anything pre-2007, etc, any of the Chevies will fit a Toy with the center hub milled out a little etc.. The point here is they all start with the pattern- but it is through tremendous research to cross refer each and every aftermarket (or stock) wheel.
I know that's not terribly encouraging- but I would start with a major manufacturer. |
